SaaS Glossary & FAQ
Software marketing is full of acronyms and confusing jargon. We break down exactly what these terms mean in plain English.
The SMB Glossary
CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
Software that acts as a central database for all your leads and customers. It tracks communication, notes, pipeline stages, and contact details so nothing falls through the cracks.
Sales Funnel
A sequence of web pages designed to guide a visitor toward a single, specific action—such as opting into an email list or purchasing a product—by removing standard website navigation.
LMS (Learning Management System)
A software platform used for creating, hosting, and delivering educational courses or training programs. Examples include Thinkific and Kajabi.
Automation (or Workflow)
A set of rules where a specific "trigger" causes a specific "action" without human intervention. For example: "If a lead fills out this form, wait 5 minutes, then send this text message."
Order Bump
A small, complementary offer presented on a checkout page with a simple checkbox, designed to increase the average order value before the transaction is finalized.
API (Application Programming Interface)
The way two different pieces of software securely "talk" to each other and exchange data (often facilitated by tools like Zapier).
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I really need all these different software tools?
No. In fact, most small businesses use too many tools. The goal of building an SMB Growth Stack is consolidation—finding the fewest number of tools that cover the essential functions of Attracting, Converting, Nurturing, and Retaining customers.
Should I buy an "All-in-One" platform or individual specialized tools?
For businesses with under 20 employees, an "All-in-One" platform (like HighLevel or Systeme.io) is usually the better choice. It drastically reduces software costs and eliminates the technical headache of trying to wire five different tools together using Zapier.
How do you evaluate the software you recommend?
We look at five main criteria: Business Value, Ease of Use, Reliability, Pricing Transparency, and Long-term Suitability. We focus entirely on what works for small to mid-sized businesses, deliberately ignoring enterprise-grade tools that are too complex and expensive for our audience.
What is the "SMB Growth Score"?
It is our proprietary 3-minute diagnostic assessment. It asks you a series of operational questions to score your business from 0-100 across six growth categories, then provides you with a custom blueprint of exactly where your systems are leaking revenue.
Still confused about what you actually need?
Stop guessing. Take our free 3-minute diagnostic assessment to identify exactly which systems your business is missing and get a personalized software recommendation.
